Silence.Strangeness.Movement
A multimedia performance with musician Blake Green:
_ Silence
For how long can we be silent Something about silence, a sign of thinking or a sign of a hurricane There are different types of silence Walk softly and carry a big stick or walk loudly with no stick.
_ Strangeness
Let me tell you about two different strangeness feelings. The first one is when you are at your own home, speaking your mother tongue language, hearing your own music, dancing in a certain way, breathing the same air since you were born, but you feel like a stranger. You talk and no one hears you, or no one understands or tries to understand you. The second one is when you are in an entirely different world, speaking a foreign language, hearing different kinds of music, breathing different air than what you breathed where you were born and raised. You try so hard to fit in, understand the history, grasp the language, understand slang, develop a taste and a choice in this new world, sing new songs, and dance in a new way. These things make you feel stranger no matter how much you try.
_ Movement
Dancing is my religion. Moving my body over the canvas, dancing on it, feeling it, contemplating it. Different energies come simultaneously from the relation between the music, the body, and the surface to move on. And the brain would keep making quick decisions for each color, tool, move, and direction to take.
